Once in a Bluemoon AKA Blue is a 4 year old (he will be 5 in October) blueroan Percheron / Quarter Horse cross gelding that’s stands 14.2HH. If your wanting a draft cross but don’t want that big 16HH horse to get on and off of check this guy out. Blue is stout build and can carry any size of rider. Blue is rides English and Western and is also broke to drive. He has been driven double in a team quite a bit last summer and we got him out a few weeks ago and hitched him up single for the first time and he did great. Blue has pretty much been all over already, he is traffic safe and 100% sound. Last fall he was used in a pack string on an elk hunt in the mountains of Colorado. Blue has completed large mountain trail coarses and crossed the obstacles with ease. We have roped off of him quite a bit,(roped the dummy, roped steers, and he was even used to rope out of the box a few times). We used Blue last fall to bring in and sort our beef cattle, cow – calf pairs. He’s no stranger to ranch work. He has been on trailrides with a couple hundred horses and also on over night camping trips. Blue rides out alone or in a group. Stands for the farrier and to bathe. Stalls well and is good being turned out with other horses. Blue also rides English, but just knows the basics. Nothing fancy. Picks up his correct leads and moves off of leg cues. He is a draft cross so he’s not the most swift horse when it comes to moving quickly but if you get behind him a bit he’s got a decent handle to him for a draft cross.
